Part-Time Cat Hut Animal and Customer Care Associate

Essential Function/Major Responsibilities: 

1. Thorough cleaning of all animal areas, including kennels, cat areas, floors, dishes, bedding, etc 

2. Spot cleaning of animal and public areas throughout the day 

3. Feeding the animals, including providing special diets as needed 

4. Socializing and grooming the animals 

5. Doing laundry, dishes, washing windows, cleaning and mopping public areas as needed, periodically clearing snow from walkways in the winter, pulling weeds in the summer. 

6. Treating all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion at all times, regardless of the situation or circumstance 

7. Maintaining a friendly demeanor and providing good customer service 

8. Working courteously and cooperatively with other staff members, board members, and volunteers 

9. Stocking supplies 

10. Filling in for other areas and performing other tasks/functions as needed and as assigned

3. Maturity, good judgement and a professional personal appearance 

4. Ability to read, write and understand English required 

5. Treat people and animals with respect; contribute to effective teamwork; and foster public relations beneficial to the shelter and its programs 

6. Familiarity with animals, knowledge of animal behavior or experience volunteering 

7. Comfort and ability to work with animals of unknown disposition and those who may exhibit medical and other problems, as well as aggressive tendencies 

Physical Requirements: 

1. Physical ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal workday required 

2. Physical ability to engage in repetitive motions of legs, arms, and hands, to hear, to see, to move animals and goods 

3. Physical ability to push up to 100 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday required 

4. Allergic conditions, which would be aggravated when handling or working with animals, may be a disqualification 

5. Working conditions include working alone, working indoors and outdoors, frequent interruptions, etc 

Hours:  

Saturdays: cat care must be done before 10 am open, may need 2+ hours depending on how many cats there are 

Sundays: cat care only, flexible scheduling, approx. 1-2 hours 

Holidays: cat care only, flexible scheduling, approx. 1-2 hours
