Nutrition Representative, PT
The day and evening Nutrition Representative works under the direction of the Food Service Manager and assumes responsibility for performing duties in food preparation, service, and clean-up of breakfast, noon, and evening meals for patients. The Nutrition Representative works in the cafeteria assisting customers. This position communicates with the nursing staff and patients on a regular basis.

- Completes all required competencies within allowed time frame.
- Follows all infection control, safety, and general hospital policies, including VDMC Standards of Behavior.
- Responsible for receiving phone orders, documenting and making changes to diet according to Physician’s diet order. Responsible for preparing menus, making corrections, and delivery.
- Performs food preparation tasks for items served at breakfast, dinner, and supper for patients, employees, and guest.
- Prepares salad topping for cafeteria and cold food items for self-serve refrigerator, stocks and replenishes food, condiments, and paper supplies.
- Cleans and assembles soda machine. Keeps equipment and appearance of serving area and Dining room clean and neat.
- Accurately operates cash register.
- Performs clean-up tasks including patient trays and eating utensils, pots and pans and food preparation utensils and task related to clean-up of own work area, kitchen, storeroom, and dining room.
- Performs food serving tasks and tray assembly for patients according to Physicians ordered diet.
- Interacts with patients for menu choices, special requests
- Assists FSM and other staff members as necessary in the function of the department.
- Responsible to fill floor supplies orders for ER, SDS, and Med/Surg.
- Checks in and puts away groceries and supplies according to correct procedures.
- Participates in quality improvement and assurance activities, data collection and documentation.
- Cleans and assembles soda machine. Stocks all supplies. Keeps equipment and appearance of serving area and Dining room clean and neat.
- Maintains level of skill required by job description related to education, experience, tools and equipment.
Part-time position primarily scheduled 52 hours every 2 weeks. Rotating shifts.
Compensation commensurate with experience.
Requirements
Prior Hospital Foodservice experience desired.
Knowledge of and ability to use and operate or intellectual ability to learn to use and operate the following pieces of tools and equipment related to foodservice tasks:
- Sharp knives/Meat Slicer
- Hand operated kitchen utensils such as wire whips
- Small electrical appliance such as food processor and mixer
- Industrial electrical appliances such as a 50 quart mixer
- Dishwasher
- Convection oven
- Grill
- Computer and cash register
