The Hamilton County Fair Board is excited to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 23rd at Noon, celebrating the completion of the Grandstand Preservation Project at the Hamilton County Speedway. This project, initiated earlier this Spring after bids were received in November 2023, aimed to rejuvenate the grandstands through a collaborative effort with the Hamilton County Speedway Race Association. Through grants, including an Enhance Hamilton County Foundation Grant, and a community-wide letter campaign, over $70,000 was raised, nearly reaching their fundraising goal. The project required over 40 hours of labor to complete. Jamie Griffith, Fair Manager, expressed gratitude for the community support and highlighted the remarkable transformation of the grandstands post-painting, illustrating a significant improvement in their appearance. The ribbon-cutting ceremony invites all community members, supporters, and speedway fans to celebrate this achievement. Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be served. The Fair Board is still actively fundraising for the final $4,000 in project costs. Funds raised that exceed the project's cost will be allocated towards updating the stage, demonstrating the Fair Board's commitment to enhancing the overall fairgrounds. This event marks the beginning of the 2024 Hamilton County Fair week, themed 'It's a Blue Ribbon Fair,' in recognition of the prestigious 'Blue Ribbon Fair' award earned by the North Central District, which includes 19 competitive county fairs. The 2024 Hamilton County Fair will run from Tuesday, July 23rd to Sunday, July 28th, featuring a variety of attractions such as the crowning of the Hamilton County Fair Queen, live music, animal shows, trailer races, a carnival, and a rogue rodeo.
