Inaugural Kent Harfst Legacy Award
This yearās event carried special meaning as it marked the anniversary of the passing of Kent Harfst, whose vision and leadership helped form the bike race/ride. To honor his lasting contributions to our community, the inaugural Kent Harfst Legacy Award was presented to Mark Glasscock.
Kentās wife, Becky Lubbers, along with his sons, Brady & Max, and grandchildren, joined the event for the honorary award dedication. Becky shared heartfelt words about Kentās enduring spirit of serviceārecalling how, even in his final hours, Kent was helping others. Hours before his passing, he stopped roadside to change a fellow bikerās flat tire, a simple act that spoke volumes about his character.
The recognition of Mark Glasscock as the first recipient of the award was especially meaningful. Mark has dedicated three decades to enhancing local parks and recreation, demonstrating commitment to youth sports and recreation, and foster opportunities for both residents and visitors. His commitment reflects the very values Kent exemplifiedābuilding community, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and putting people first.
š Enhance Hamilton County Food Pantry Challenge
This yearās event also supported the Enhance Hamilton County Food Pantry Challenge, raising $330 through the help of 33 on-site volunteers. Coupled with a generous match by local financial institutionsāFirst State Bank, Town & Country Insurance, WCF Financial Bank, Peoples Credit Union, Availa Bank, and Security Savings Bankāthe total contribution will be doubled to $660 to benefit local food pantries.
Thanks to the incredible buying power that food pantries can tap into, every $10 provides 30 meals. With this yearās Tour de Webster contribution, nearly 2,000 meals will be purchased for families right here in the Webster City area.
Together, these efforts reminded us that our community is stronger when we care for one anotherāa legacy Kent Harfst would be proud of.
