Explore the Night Sky at Little Wall Lake Park
Stargazing Night Hike – Saturday, August 30, 2025
The public is invited to experience the wonders of the night sky during a special Stargazing Night Hike at Little Wall Lake Park on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 9:30 – 10:30 p.m. The program begins at the Maple Shelter, where participants will gather before heading out on the trail.
Led by local naturalist John Laird, the program will guide attendees in observing stars, constellations, planets, moon craters, and even orbiting satellites. Participants will also learn about popular astronomy phone apps and receive free night sky maps to help them explore the universe.
The night hike will include a walk north of the park’s solar panels, where the group will also try to call barred owls. This all-ages program is perfect for anyone curious about the natural wonders revealed after dark.
Guests are encouraged to bring a flashlight, binoculars, and plenty of curiosity. A limited number of flashlights with red covers will be available for participants.
