Backyard Bird Feeding 101 and Soup & Sandwich Potluck Set for February 1st

WEBSTER CITY, IA – The Hamilton County Conservation Board invites community members of all ages to enjoy a fun and educational morning at the Backyard Bird Feeding 101 and Soup & Sandwich Potluck/Conservation Time event on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Event Details

  • Backyard Bird Feeding 101: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Learn the essentials of successful backyard bird feeding in Iowa during an interactive discussion led by a Hamilton County Naturalist. Following the talk, participants will craft a pine cone bird feeder to take home or hang in a local park. This program is designed for all ages, but space is limited to the first 50 registrants. Online registration is required to secure your spot.
  • Soup & Sandwich Potluck/Conservation Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
After the program, join us for a potluck lunch! Attendees are encouraged to bring a crockpot of soup, a plate of sandwiches, or a side dish to share. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with a Hamilton County Naturalist, ask questions about conservation, and share ideas for future environmental education programs.

This event is an excellent way to learn about Iowa's feathered friends and how to attract them to your yard while fostering a sense of community. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting, this hands-on experience will inspire you to explore nature. Additionally, the potluck offers attendees a relaxed environment to discuss conservation topics, learn about volunteer opportunities, and provide feedback on programs offered by the Hamilton County Conservation Board.

The event is hosted by the Hamilton County Conservation Board at 2490 Briggs Woods Trail, Webster City.
