Have you ever wondered how to turn your venison into delicious jerky or properly process deer meat? Now’s your chance to learn! Join us on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Conservation Office, located at 2490 Briggs Woods Trail, Webster City, IA, for an engaging and hands-on Deer Processing and Jerky Making Workshop.
This free family-friendly event is perfect for both beginners and seasoned hunters looking to refine their meat preparation skills. Participants will learn essential techniques, including:
· Cutting, grinding, and packaging venison
· Mixing sausage and jerky recipes
· Using tools like jerky guns
· Exploring different methods of preparation, including smokers, dehydrators, ovens, and grills
As a bonus, attendees will receive recipe ideas and enjoy tasty jerky samples during the session.
“Meat processing is a skill deeply rooted in our history, and it’s a rewarding way to make the most of your harvest,” says John Laird, Naturalist, Hamilton County Conservation.
