A clinically competent, registered nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability to the care of patients pediatric through geriatric in the Infusion Center through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse provides care to these patients with therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Serves as a patient advocate and a liaison between ancillary departments, physicians, and community resources. The nurse is responsible for the direction of personnel assigned as needed.
Requirements:
- Possesses a current license as a Registered Nurse in good standing issued by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
- BLS certification prior to the end of orientation and/or working independently.
- ACLS certification within 6 months and prior to working independently.
- Mandatory dependent adult & child abuse education certification.
- Experience in preparing and titrating infusions intravenously.
- Within 6-9 months attend training for infusing chemotherapy and biotherapy.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills: Works closely with patients, families, peers, supervisors, physicians, and other health team members.
- Strong communication skills with and on behalf of patients, and with other staff members.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements as outlined in the Job Requirements document.
- This position requires successful completion of a Physical Capacity Profile screening.
