Cook - Full-time, day/evening rotation
The day and evening cook works under the direction of the Food Service Manager and assumes responsibility for the preparation and cooking of meats, starches, vegetables, soups and baked products, correct portioning and serving of food for patients, and Café.

- Abides by all the Standards of Conduct.
- Completes all required competencies within allowed time frame.
- Follows all infection control, safety, and general hospital policies.
- Performs food preparation for items served at breakfast, dinner, and supper for Patients and Cafeteria customers
- Performs clean-up tasks including washing dishes and eating utensils, pots and pans and food preparation utensils and tasks related to clean-up of own work area, kitchen, storeroom, and dining room.
- Performs food serving tasks and tray assembly for patients of all ages according to Physicians ordered diet and serves Café customers.
- Assists FSM and other staff members as necessary in the function of the Department.
- Checks in and puts away groceries and supplies according to correct procedure.
- Participates in quality improvement and assurance activities, data collection and documentation.
- Maintains level of skill required by job description related to education, experience, tools and equipment.
Wage commensurate with experience.

Requirements
- Knowledge of basic cooking procedures, prior cooking and hospital Foodservice experience desired.
- Knowledge of and ability to use and operate or intellectual ability to learn to use and operate the following pieces of tools and equipment related to foodservice tasks:
- Sharp knives/Meat Slicer
Hand operated kitchen utensils such as wire whips
Small electrical appliance such as food processor and mixer
Industrial electrical appliances such as a 50 quart mixer
Dishwasher
Convection oven
Grill
Computer and cash register
