KYL - Adult Newsletter - February 2026



Kendall Young Library will be hosting “Read Your Heart Out” as a Winter Reading Program February 2nd – 28th. 

Adults have the opportunity to complete literary tasks and activities for the chance to win the perfect book bundle.  The bookmark of activities is available throughout February, so pick one up and get started beginning February 2nd.

Patrons will also have the opportunity for a “Blind Date with a Book”.  All month, blind dates(books) will be wrapped and ready for you to check them out!  Don’t forget to rate your date and take a picture!

Teens are invited to grab a reading log bookmark to complete 10 days for reading.  Return the bookmark to the Teen area for a prize and book to add to their personal collection.  All Entries will be added to a drawing for a Read Your Heart Out Gift Bag. 

Children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities based on a chosen genre.  Bookmarks have scratch-off options to see what tasks you need to complete.  Return for a chance to spin the prize wheel. There are many activities throughout the month as well as scavenger hunts and other great programs.

 Make sure to stop in all month to be a part of the fun!


Kendall Young Library offering a public screening of the movie FREE FOR ALL: THE PUBLIC LIBRARY on Saturday, February 21st at 2:00PM in the meeting room.  This movie tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today’s librarians who serve the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.

This screening has been made possible for 1000 small and rural libraries by Carnegie Corporation of NY.

Adult Daytime Book Club - Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the February Book Club discussion on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. This book is available at the Adult Checkout if you are interested in participating.  We will be meeting on Tuesday, February 10th, 1:30-2:30PM to discuss. A book for the March Book Club will be announced at this time.

Adult Evening Book Club - Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the Adult Evening Book Club discussion about Premeditated Myrtle by Elizabeth C. Bunce. This book is available at Adult Checkout if you are interested in participating.  We will be meeting on Wednesday, February 11th, 6:00-7:00PM. March Book Club books will be available at this time.

Books & Bourbon Silent Book Club – Kendall Young Library is working with Wildcat Distilling Co. to offer patrons a Silent Book Club.  Due to relocation, the Silent Book Club will be held at Kendall Young Library in February. Adults are invited to gather at Kendall Young Library on Thursday, February 19th from 5:00-6:30PM.  Bring a book, grab a drink(mocktails provided), and enjoy an introvert happy hour!  This event is always the third Thursday of each month.

Seniors Share – First time in 2026, Kendall Young Library is hosting a Seniors Share event on Tuesday, February 17th from 10:30-11:30 AM. Seniors are invited to gather and share a hobby, collection or short story with others.  A time limit will be established based on interest.  Patrons that would like to participate by listening are also invited.

Adult DIY – Kendall Young Library will be hosting Adult DIY on Tuesday, February 24th from 5:30-6:30PM. Patrons can learn how to make a Pinch Pot.  We have the clay, you bring the imagination!  This event is free and does not require registration.  Bring a friend and enjoy the evening out.

Fiber Arts Hangout (formerly known as Crochet Workshop) – Thursday, February 26th from 5:30-6:30PM Kendall Young Library will be hosting a time to work on your favorite fiber arts project.  There are patrons available who can help if you want to start learning how to crochet, but you are welcome to bring your own project to work on and socialize.  This is a fun time to relax and learn from others.  All ages 16+ are invited to come and some supplies will be available. There is no registration required.

SPICE Club - Kendall Young Library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club.  We will be featuring Juniper Berries beginning Friday, February 6th  .  Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last.

This is a fun way to explore different cultures and flavors. Each month there will be a featured herb or spice. A limited number of kits will be available each month with a small sample, information about the spice, and a couple recipes to try.
