Junior Archaeologist Field Day – Discover History at Briggs Woods Park
Calling all adventurers! Have you ever wanted to be like Indiana Jones and unearth hidden treasures from the past? The Hamilton County Conservation Board invites families, students, and curious explorers to take part in Junior Archaeologist Field Day on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Conservation Office in Briggs Woods Park, Webster City.
This engaging program, led by County Naturalist John Laird, will give participants an exciting look into both prehistoric and historic times. Guests will have the opportunity to:
- View authentic Native American stone tools and arrowheads.
- Learn about the science of archaeology.
- Participate in a hands-on dig at the park beach to uncover placed artifacts, coins, and bones.
“All ages are welcome to join us for this interactive experience,” said John Laird. “It’s a fun and educational way to spark curiosity about our past while giving kids the chance to discover artifacts themselves.”
Participation is limited to the first 50 registrants. Register online at www.mycountyparks.com. For questions, contact John Laird at 515-297-0423.
