Webster City is welcoming spring with a colorful, community-driven event that invites residents and visitors to embrace creativity, connection, and local pride. The Spring Sip & Shop returns Saturday, April 26, beginning with a flavorful and fun-filled Paint & Sip Charcuterie Breakfast at 9:00 AM, hosted at the Webster City Church of Christ (900 Des Moines Street).
For just $5, guests will enjoy a beautifully arranged charcuterie breakfast and refreshing mock mimosas while taking part in a guided paint session led by featured artist and Chamber Ambassador Renee McDonald. Participants will paint their own wooden circle sign, selecting from a variety of feel-good phrases including “Welcome,” “Wildflowers,” “Blessed,” “Farmhouse,” “Home Sweet Home,” “This Is Us,” or “Our Life, Our Story, Our Home.”
Renee McDonald, known for her vibrant murals and mixed-media work in Fort Dodge and surrounding communities, brings a deeply personal touch to her artistry. After losing her father in 2012, painting became a healing outlet and a creative journey.
“I started painting as a form of grieving. I’m a self-taught artist, and the better I became, the more I turned it into a science experiment,” said McDonald. “I love to mix different paints and materials—latex, acrylic, resin, spray paint—and I enjoy working on unconventional sizes and surfaces like murals, wood, metal, and even face painting.
